I think you forgot the part where you MUST clean and number the drawers.

First mistake is using a pure bristle brush , no good , you need synthetic for a bristle free finish

Its becomming more common these days people painting their furnitures and I can appreciate why it is done. It make it look modern or blend with the certain taste. However I like the timeless quality wood grain and not totally convince by paint, at least for quality furniture. For me a quality furniture once painted put it in the same category as flat-pack, its no longer admired as a piece of collectable you want to hand down to your children but just a utilitarian use. I heard people painting their otherwise perfect Ducal furniture and I just scream "Nooooo". Having said that if the furniture is not a valuable piece, have seen better days and instead of chucking its away its deserve a ssecond life to have it painted. Not so if it a quality classic or a potential chippendale of the future. please reply back just wanted to know if i should paint the insides of my drawer, do you need to sand the wood and paint it white then grey and where did you get the new handles for the drawer and mine is heavy so how shall i get the sheet under it :-)

Is sanding a must? I'm buying a wooden chest brand new, and just want a different color. It's white. Would I still need to prime it?
